Things I learned on Thursday:
The two-toned cap that the NFL rolled out this week may just grow on me. The jury is still out…Detroit was 0-9 since 2004 on Thanksgiving before Thursday’s win. I knew they were bad lately, but come on…Pittsburgh went to 0-6 in Thanksgiving appearances since 1950…eating two Thanksgiving dinners in a span of seven hours can be a bit much…fresh cranberries with a little whipped cream on top is quite good…Free HBO week can put your DVR through quite a workout…My son likes pumpkin pie. A lot…Jackson Jeffcoat does, indeed, still play for Texas. Glad he made his presence felt on Thursday vs. Texas Tech…Adidas and Under Armor both have the ability to design horrid alternate uniforms (and I’m bracing myself for what A&M might roll out at Mizzou on Saturday; the teases on Twitter scare me).
Things I reconfirmed on Thursday:
Traditional Thanksgiving weekend rivalry games in college football are awesome (Egg Bowl – Ole Miss at Mississippi State – was an overtime thriller last night)…Tony Romo doesn’t want the month to end (he’s now 24-5 all-time in November)…The Oakland Raiders’ white jersey uniform combo is one of my favorite looks in the NFL, as is the Packers’ white jersey look…The Cowboys need to go back to the 1975 royal blue jerseys instead of the navy shade they’ve been sporting for a while now…I guess Aaron Rodgers is that good. I didn’t know he impacted the Packers’ play on defense too, when he is out. By the way, the dude might have the best Movember ‘stache out there…Mack Brown is going to continue to make it hard for his new boss to make a change at head coach of Texas…Tech can’t win in Austin (0-7 since 1997)…You don’t build a stadium East-West (Jerry)…This country does indeed love Black Friday – the lots were packed at 8:15 pm as we drove home from dinner…NFL instant replay is overthought quite often. You never know what the outcome will be, even when we can see the result as plain as day on our TV sets.
