Video Friday

I thought I’d try something a little different with this issue of ScoreBoard. Instead of entertaining you, the subscriber, with my scintillating written word alone, I thought I’d share a few of videos from the past week or so that I found entertaining for one reason or another.

As the Cowboys continue to amaze with their incredible ability to find ways to lose games (7 straight and counting), the insanity of their locker room continues to make news. Last week Dez Bryant flew off the handle verbally attacking ESPN reporter Jean Jacques-Taylor for something previously written about Bryant, and then continued his rant towards Cowboys long time Director of PR Rich Dalrymple. Most have heard about the ugly scene, but not all have seen it. I can’t help but wonder what must be going through Jason Witten’s mind during Dez’s tirade, or during this entire season. The lack of control that Jason Garrett or anyone else in the organization not named Jones displays weekly is laughable at best…well until something serious happens…(the outburst is at the beginning of the video below)

So by now you all know that the great Rhonda Rousey lost her UFC Bantamweight Championship belt to Holly Holm last week in Melbourne, Australia, when Holm KO’d the former champ with a second round head kick. That’s all well and good, but what I found intriguing was UFC President (and all round MMA Big Cheese) Dana White’s reaction in the post-fight interview, and how incredibly disappointed he was with the outcome. Unbiased like Roger Goodell or Adam Silver would be after presenting the Lombardi or the Larry O’Brien Trophies to the champions of their leagues?  Hardly, not when his money-maker hit the canvas. Sullen might be an understatement…..I honestly thought he might tear up…

If you have the time and don’t mind the less than hi-def quality of the video (I stumbled on it of course after looking for the Dan White interview), enjoy Rhonda Rousey before Mr. White and the UFC made her the larger than life athlete and media darling that she is (was?). Back when she was just a Olympic Judo champ, and looking to make a buck, she appeared on a Japanese game show where she took on three black belts, all men, one after the other….

And finally, in keeping with our out of control Cowboys and fighting themes, there’s nothing like a couple of knuckleheads, over indulged and I’m sure making some very valid points about the respective team’s strategy. And no that isn’t Jason Witten in the Witten jersey…….
