Baker Mayfield Eyes 2020 Olympics

Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma QB and Heisman hopeful, has athletic goals in mind far past the time he’ll spend in Norman. But it isn’t the NFL that intrigues him. Nope, it’s the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo that his eyes are set on.

Since football isn’t an Olympic sport (at least not yet), you may wonder what Mayfield is gearing up for.  The Feathered Bull has learned exclusively that Mayfield feels he would be a natural in….wait for it…. rhythmic gymnastics. Yep, rhythmic gymnastics – the sport of dainty girls dancing for gold is what young Baker dreams of.

While traditionally a sport for the ladies, Mayfield wants to break that gender bias. “I’ve got the moves to make this work,” Mayfield told The Feathered Bull.  “Dancing, flag waving….it’s kinda my thing.”

When asked how long this has been a goal for him, Mayfield replied, “It’s always been there. Well at least since the Ohio State game. I saw the power of flag waving and it just sort of hit me. I could be the best at it if I really trained hard.”

His Sooner teammates support him 100% in his lofty goal of achieving gold in Tokyo, and think his natural dancing abilities will be all he needs to stand on the top podium 3 years from now.  Newly retired Bob Stoops isn’t so sure though.

“It really isn’t something I’d encourage,” Said Stoops, “But the kid dreams big, and dancing with ribbons in Japan is his dream, so who am I to say don’t do it.”
